{"id":1155,"date":"2020-10-13T10:10:29","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T10:10:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1155"},"modified":"2020-10-13T10:10:32","modified_gmt":"2020-10-13T10:10:32","slug":"soa-community-radio-joins-battle-against-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1155","title":{"rendered":"SOA COMMUNITY RADIO JOINS BATTLE AGAINST CORONAVIRUS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Amidst the confusion created by the explosion of information\nabout the Covid-19 pandemic, the Community Radio of the SOA Deemed to be\nUniversity has been making diligent efforts to enlighten the public as to how keep\naway from the deadly virus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voice of SOA Community 90.4, working in collaboration with\nUNICEF, has been regularly airing programs to inform the community on the need\nfor wearing of mask, regular hand washing and maintenance of social distance to\navoid the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its special program \u2018Sarve Bhawantu Sukhina\u2019, the\ncommunity radio has been inviting experts and doctors from the Institute of\nMedical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA\u2019s faculty of medicine, to its studios to\ninform the people about the Corona virus and as to how they should stay away\nfrom the infection. Researchers from SOA also enlightened the listeners about\nthe virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Psychologists also join discussion panels frequently to talk\nabout mental health issues for all while Asha Karmis and ANMs talk about safety\nprecautions, the need for proper exercise and nutrition. Impactful skits and\njingles have been created surrounding subjects about home isolation, home care\nof patients, stigmas, discriminations and taking care of the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information about the Antigen and RT-PCR tests, plasma\ntherapy, need for plasma donation and taking care of patients suffering from\ncancer, diabetes and hypertension during the pandemic are aired in Odia, Hindi\nand English regularly. \u2018SOA Youngistan\u2019, a popular program involving student\nradio jockeys of SOA, is aired twice a week while digital programs are made on\nissues relating to Covid-19 with the students connecting with each other from\ntheir homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and\nFacebook have become an extended part of SOA Community Radio setting new milestones\nwhile educational material including those contributed by NCERT are regularly\nbroadcast benefitting students from slums in a big way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A program called \u2018Mission Corona\u2019 is being aired in\nassociation with UNICEF and Community Radio Association (CRA) since June with\nten episodes. Two new programs on agriculture, styled as \u2018SOA Agriculture\u2019 and\n\u2018Badi Bagicha\u2019 are also being broadcast twice a week which has become very\npopular. Experts from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), SOA\u2019s\nfaculty of agriculture, are invited to the studios to air their views on\nfarming including mushroom cultivation by women, pest control, organic farming,\nterrace gardening, seasonal flowers, fruits and vegetables. Cultivation is considered\na good method to help the mind relax and keep the body fit during this\nstressful period.\n\nThe radio has also been airing \u2018Yoga Lessons\u2019\nand hosted a special program on nutritional diet for children and pregnant\nwomen as September is observed as \u2018Nutritional Month\u2019.
