{"id":1265,"date":"2021-01-15T12:39:58","date_gmt":"2021-01-15T12:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1265"},"modified":"2021-01-15T12:39:59","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T12:39:59","slug":"ims-and-sum-hospital-prepared-for-launch-of-covaxin-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1265","title":{"rendered":"IMS AND SUM HOSPITAL PREPARED FOR LAUNCH OF \u2018COVAXIN\u2019 ON SATURDAY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Preparations for launching the\nmuch-awaited Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday have been completed at the Institute\nof Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha \u2018O\u2019\nAnusandhan (SOA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; IMS and SUM Hospital, which was\nchosen as one of the centres for clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine \u2013\nCovaxin&#8211; earlier, is in the list of six medical facilities selected in the\ncapital city where the vaccine would be administered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Around 100 medical professionals\nwould be administered \u2018Covaxin\u2019 on the first day of the launch after Prime\nMinister Mr. Narendra Modi virtually rolls out the nationwide vaccination drive\non Saturday morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" src=\"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1267\" data-link=\"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?attachment_id=1267\" class=\"wp-image-1267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, SOA\u2019s\nVice-Chancellor and eminent neuro surgeon, would be the first medical\nprofessional to be administered the vaccine at the hospital and the process\nwould continue through the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cOur preparations for the launch of\nthe vaccination campaign have been completed and around 100 medical\nprofessionals would be administered Covaxin on day one,\u201d Prof. Pusparaj\nSamantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Besides Prof. Mahapatra, five other\ndoctors representing IMS and SUM Hospital and SUM Ultimate Medicare have been\nchosen to attend the virtual launching of the campaign by the Prime Minister.\nThe doctors are Dr. Banamber Ray, Incharge, Critical Care at SUM Ultimate\nMedicare, Dr. Rajesh Lenka, Additional Medical Superintendent at IMS and SUM\nHospital, Dr. Iswar Behera, Incharge of Neuro ICU at IMS and SUM Hospital, Dr.\nPradipta Patra, Professor in the department of Immunology and Rheumatology at\nIMS and SUM Hospital and himself, Prof. Samantasinhar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Six temporary halls have been set up\nin the hospital for the launch of the vaccine with two halls earmarked for the\nregistration of recipients of the vaccine, two halls for the vaccination and\ntwo halls where the recipients would be required to rest for 30 minutes before\nbeing allowed to go.
