<\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\nSOA was ranked 15th<\/sup>\nin the country by NIRF in 2023. NAAC, which has termed SOA as socially\ninclusive, has re-accredited it in 2022 with the highest grade of A++. In\nSeptember 2017, three programs of SOA\u2019s faculty of engineering and technology\nwere accredited by the prestigious Accreditation Board for Engineering and\nTechnology (ABET), an internationally reputed US-based accreditation agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n SOA has been\nglobally ranked among the top 50 universities in India by QS India Ranking. The\nInstitute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA\u2019s faculty of medical\nsciences, was ranked 16th in the country by NIRF in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Deemed to be\nUniversity offers 24 Under Graduate and 83 Post Graduate, Ph.D. and Post\nDoctoral programs in engineering and technology, management, medical sciences,\ndental sciences, nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, hospitality\nand tourism management, law, agricultural sciences and veterinary sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n SOA\u2019s focus being\non research, it has set up 18 research centres which have been working in 26\nidentified thrust areas. The centres include Centre of Excellence in\nTheoretical and Mathematical Sciences, Centre for Bio-Mechanical Sciences,\nMulti-Disciplinary Research Center, Centre for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology,\nCentre for Applied Mathematics, Centre for Rural and Tribal Development, Centre\nfor Reproductive Health, National MEMS Design Centre, Centre for Bio-Fuel and\nBio-Processing and Centre for Environment and Climate. Besides, it had\nestablished two inter-disciplinary centres namely Centre for Climate Smart\nAgriculture and Bio-medical Engineering and Applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some of the\nongoing research work is supported by grants sanctioned by several external\nagencies including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department\nof Biotechnology (DBT), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO),\nScience and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Life Science Research Board\n(LSRB) and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Fifty eight\nlaboratories have been established besides the 18 research centres to develop\nthe research ecosystem in the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Researchers at\nSOA have developed simple economical and innovative pharmaceutical formulations\nto treat various chronic medical conditions for which the Deemed to be\nUniversity has recently signed technology licensing agreement with the National\nResearch Development Corporation (NRDC) of the Ministry of Science and\nTechnology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Work of the\nfaculty members and research scholars regularly get published in reputed peer\nreviewed international journals. The university has 10,903 Scopus indexed\npublications to its credit so far with h-Index of 98. In Web of Science, it has\n6248 publications with h-Index of 86. Researchers at SOA have so far applied\nfor 407 patents of which 292 have been published and patents granted in 35\ncases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n SOA\u2019s\nfaculty of medical sciences runs the 1600 bed SUM Hospital which has become one\nof the most sought after healthcare centres in the state. The USP of the\nteaching hospital, which deploys excellent modern and advanced diagnostic,\nsurgical and life saving equipment, is that it extends quality medical\nfacilities for patients at affordable cost. A separate multi-speciality\nhospital, SUM Ultimate Medicare has been set \nup by SOA in Bhubaneswar which extends state-of-the-art healthcare to\nthe people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Students at SOA\nare encouraged to engage in creative work and learn to serve people in need.\nStudent Clubs and Activity Centres promote extra-curricular activities to\nexplore hidden talent in the student and develop his or her personality.\n\u2018Jaago\u2019, an initiative of the university with students at the forefront, has\nbeen working among slum children taking care of their education, nutrition and\nhygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\ninfrastructure developed by the university includes a 1600-seat state-\nof-the-art convention hall which is today the preferred venue for many\ninternational and national level conferences. SOA\u2019s 127 acre fully wi-fi\ncampuses have a total built up area of nearly 7.5 lakh square meters and has\n197 e-enabled class rooms, 340 PG and UG labs, fully automated libraries with\nample Print Learning Resources, 10 student activity centres and multiple ISP\nconnectivity (more than 10 Gbps). It has one central library, 9 institutional\nand 42 departmental libraries. The central library has a floor area of 11,617\nsquare meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The SOA Community\nRadio (90.4 MHz), which has been functioning since 2012, was adjudged the best\ncommunity radio by the Government of India in 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Presently new courses have been added in Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Institute of Dental Sciences, Institute of Business and Computer Studies, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SUM Nursing College, SOA National Institute of Law, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, School of Hotel Management and Institute of Higher Secondary Education.
