{"id":1897,"date":"2023-07-24T12:25:54","date_gmt":"2023-07-24T12:25:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1897"},"modified":"2023-07-24T12:25:56","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T12:25:56","slug":"chr-center-of-hope-for-couples-in-odisha-having-infertility-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=1897","title":{"rendered":"CHR\u2014CENTER OF HOPE FOR COUPLES IN ODISHA HAVING INFERTILITY ISSUES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Around 25 per cent of the 60 to 80 million couples suffering\nfrom infertility every year worldwide live in India while one in every four\ncouples in developing countries is affected by infertility, according to the\nWorld Health Organisation (WHO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Infertility, which affects approximately 15 per cent of\nIndian couples, is viewed as a major problem with far reaching consequences. Myriad\ncauses including late marriages which is becoming the norm, stressful\nlifestyle, obesity, junk food intake, smoking, alcoholism and drug addiction\nare mostly responsible for the condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"446\" src=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-4-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1905\" data-link=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?attachment_id=1905\" class=\"wp-image-1905\" srcset=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-4-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-4-1-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR),\nthere has been an enhancement of infertility rate in Indians in the last two\ndecades. The top five causes of infertility in women includes Polycystic\nOvarian Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis, abnormal male factor, Tubal blockages\nand ovulation problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem is being handled\nsuccessfully at the Center for Human Reproduction (CHR), the Infertility and In\nVitro Fertilization (IVF) unit of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM\nHospital in Bhubaneswar since 2012 which is the first infertility unit in\nOdisha to provide IVF treatment in a medical college hospital with benefits of\nmultidisciplinary care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The center which was enrolled under\nthe ICMR in 2013, has been registered under the Odisha State Board for Assisted\nReproductive Technique (ART) as a Level 2 ART clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"716\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-1-716x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1901\" data-link=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?attachment_id=1901\" class=\"wp-image-1901\" srcset=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-1-716x1024.jpg 716w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-1-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-1-768x1098.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-2-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1902\" data-link=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?attachment_id=1902\" class=\"wp-image-1902\" srcset=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-2-1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-2-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/ivf-2-1-768x1151.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The center\u2019s facilities include\ninfertility couple counseling, transvaginal scan, ovulation induction and\nfollicular monitoring, fertility enhancing laparoscopic surgeries, semen\nanalysis, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in-vitro fertilization (IVF),\nintracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), surgical sperm retrieval procedures\n(TESA\/PESA), semen and embryo freezing and donor sperm IUI and IVF. CHR\u2019s success\nrate was at par with the global trend of ART success at 48.1 per cent for IVF\nand 14 per cent for IUI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from basic and advanced\nfertility treatment, CHR has the facility for fertility preservation for both\nsexes before undergoing chemotherapy or pelvic radiation as cancer therapy.
