Siksha \u2018O\u2019 Anusandhan Deemed to be\nUniversity (SOA) played a stellar role in the battle against Covid-19 in Odisha\nwhich hugely contributed to the reduction in the number of fatalities, Chairman\nof 5T and Naveen Odisha Mr. V. K. Pandian said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI visited\nSOA for the first time at a very difficult time. It was soon after the outbreak\nof Covid-19. I had come to discuss how the university could collaborate with\nthe state government in battling the disease. After going round the facilities\nand discussing with doctors, I stepped out of the campus with the confidence\nthat the battle could be won,\u201d Mr. Pandian said while speaking at a ceremony\norganised at SOA to felicitate eminent Odia novelist Mr. Bibhuti Patnaik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nfelicitation ceremony was part of the two-day discourse on Odia language,\nliterature and culture organised at the university as part of the ongoing 1st<\/sup>\nWorld Odia Language Conference here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Pandian\nsaid he spoke to SOA Founder President Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak and\ndoctors about the role Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA\u2019s\nfaculty of medicine, could play by joining hands with the government in\nfighting the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\npromised to help and told me to assure the Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik\nthat all possible efforts would be made to meet the situation. I am happy to\ninform you that they did much more than what they had promised and worked day\nand night to save lives,\u201d he said adding patients were eager to be treated at\nhospitals run by SOA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt was an\nexample of excellent teamwork and as a result the fatality rate in Odisha was\nmuch less compared to other states,\u201d Mr. Pandian said while referring to the\nfive stand-alone Covid Hospitals SOA helped establish and operate at different\nplaces of the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Pandian\nsaid the Chief Minister had given clear instructions to try and save every life\nas the government had laid down the blue print for management of the pandemic\nin the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Odisha\ngovernment focused on team work, technology, transparency and adherence to time\nframe in the battle against the disease. \u201cWe even imported kits and other\nequipment from abroad directly to ensure that the best treatment could be\nprovided to the patients, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Siksha \u2018O\u2019 Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) played a stellar role in the battle against Covid-19 in Odisha which hugely contributed to the reduction in the number of fatalities, Chairman of 5T and Naveen Odisha Mr. V.
