{"id":2072,"date":"2024-04-19T12:47:27","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T12:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=2072"},"modified":"2024-04-19T12:47:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T12:47:47","slug":"sum-hospital-and-sumum-actively-promoting-organ-donation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?p=2072","title":{"rendered":"SUM HOSPITAL AND SUMUM ACTIVELY PROMOTING ORGAN DONATION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Actively involved in promotion of organ donation, the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital and SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) here have been continuously encouraging family members of brain dead patients to donate body parts which could help critical patients to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A\n50-year-old woman, Sanjukta Patra, who had suffered a brain stroke, was\nadmitted into the IMS and SUM Hospital on April 12 last. She underwent emergency\nsurgery but did not recover. She was subsequently declared as brain dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hospital\nauthorities then counseled her family members about donating her organs which\ncould help other critical patients elsewhere to live. The family agreed to the\nsuggestion and the hospital authorities then got in touch with the State Organ\nand Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to take the matter forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subsequently,\nher two kidneys and liver were harvested and sent to different hospitals where\npatients were awaiting transplantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/BODY-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"2074\" data-link=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/?attachment_id=2074\" class=\"wp-image-2074\" srcset=\"https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/BODY-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/BODY-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/utkalaage.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/BODY-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While one of her\nkidneys was taken to the SUM Ultimate Medicare for transplantation on a\npatient, the other kidney was taken to the S.C.B.
