Bhubaneswar, May 12: One more feather was added to the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here as it has been chosen as the latest Covid-19 testing facility in Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 1000-bed teaching hospital, the faculty of medicine of the SOA Deemed to be University, is the first private medical college in the state to be chosen as a testing centre for Coronavirus, its Medical Superintendent, Dr. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The approval for the purpose had been received from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tests would be conducted in the Molecular RNA Virology Laboratory of the institute, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To start with, the lab can conduct 300 tests per day, Dr. Jaishankar Das, Director, Research, IMS and SUM Hospital, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Das said the hospital had received NABL approval for the Molecular RNA Virology Laboratory earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IMS and SUM Hospital had hogged the limelight earlier by becoming the first hospital in Odisha to conduct live donor liver transplantation and Bone Marrow Transplantation successfully.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
