Bhubaneswar, May 3: As the world is locked in a grim battle against COVID-19, the pandemic that has claimed over 2.44 lakh lives worldwide, the SOA Deemed to be University has sent out a message saying ‘We Shall Overcome’.

In the forefront of the war against the disease having set up three stand-alone COVID-19 Hospitals in Odisha, SOA has erected barriers against the rampaging pandemic.

A video, released by the University, informs about the steps taken by it in collaboration with the state government against Coronavirus. The video features Dr. Sohom Ghosh, a SOA medical graduate and singer, who sings ‘We Shall Overcome’, the gospel song which became the rallying cry of the civil rights movement in the USA.

The video is a tribute to the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers of IMS and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medicine, who have been working round-the-clock to save lives, SOA sources said.

While a 525-bed COVID-19 Hospital has been set up in SOA’s own campus in the capital city, two other hospitals have been made functional at Talcher (156 bed) and Kendrapara (110 beds) respectively in collaboration with the state government.
