BJB College marked Mahatma Gandhi’s Jayanti with a heartfelt celebration, supported by Union Bank of India and the BJB Friends’ Association. The event aimed to inspire students by promoting Gandhi’s enduring principles and ideals.
Eminent poet and writer Shri Harprasad Das served as the chief speaker, sharing insights into Gandhi’s life and philosophies. Renowned Gandhian writer Mr. Gaurang Chandra Parida encouraged students to embrace Gandhi’s ideals in their daily lives.
The gathering featured notable guests, including Itishree Padhi, Principal of BJB College, Haroon Rashid Khan, former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, and Sarvesh Ranjan, General Manager of Union Bank of India, who each delivered impactful speeches.
To honor student achievements, cash prizes and citations were awarded for excellence in college-level competitions focusing on Gandhi’s life and teachings, including composition, essay, and quiz contests.
Debashish Patnaik, President of BJB Friends, presided over the event and delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Satyabrata Dhupal concluded with a vote of thanks.
Among the attendees were dignitaries such as Sarbashree Krishna Chandra Patra, Kedar Patnaik, Shyamsundar Patnaik, Pradeep Samal, Vishwanath Mohanty, Shubhadarshini Mishra, Siddharth Shekhar Singh, along with faculty members and students.
The event was skillfully conducted by faculty members Dr. Namita Patnaik and Bibhavari Bal, creating a memorable tribute to the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
